Montreal, May 8, 2013 – A work by noted Quebec graphic designer Jacques Bourassa was selected to grace the official poster of this year’s Montreal World Film Festival, it was announced. “I designed the poster of the MWFF to illustrate the event’s different facets by using its name as a lens,” Bourassa explained. “The poster evokes the Festival’s international scope and the diversity of its films via different colours and the format and dancing movement of the letters. The initials of the Festival are highlighted by the illustration of a film strip. The ‘O’ of the word Monde resembles the lens of a camera or a projector. As well, it focuses on the fact that this is the 37th edition of the Festival. The blue shading of the poster and the light illuminating the back of the lens evoke the atmosphere of the movie theatre.”

Over the past 20 years, through his company, LOGOS Design, Jacques Bourassa has specialized in the conception of logos and corporative images. Previously he was an artistic advisor to Radio-Canada and the CBC. He has conceived graphics for the National Film Board of Canada as well as for numerous pharmaceutical, hi-tech, electronics and service companies.

In the 1970s he designed some fifty album covers and posters for such Quebec recording artists as Charlebois, Dubois, Ferland, Deschamps, Beau Dommage and Offenbach. He also designed ?over a hundred book covers and promotional documents for various publishers, and he has designed logos for radio stations, including CHOM-FM and CKOI-FM.

The 2013 edition of the Montreal World Film Festival will be held August 22 to September 2.
