A Bridge To Funding and Coproduction in Bavaria
Meet top representatives and producers
from the Bavarian film industry
Presented by FFF Bayern

Bavaria is a strong site for film production because it has strong partners to offer, a reliable film fund with additional financial support through a network of regional banks and a broad array of producers of all kinds, from new talents to many middle-sized and often very traditional production houses, to major players like Bavaria Film or Constantin Film. Bavaria can also boast to have the most friendly film environment nationwide. This starts with a solid foundation in film education and training like that provided by Munich’s University of TV and Film, world-famous for the many prestigious filmmakers who got their first start there. Some of the world’s best cameras are produced in Bavaria. With 13 technical Oscars, ARRI has set world-leading standards. Bavaria is proud of its highly skilled animation studios, for example Trixter and Scanline, who offer the latest techniques as well as amazing 2D or 3D solutions. Filmmakers from all over the world appreciate the tremendous variety of all kind of servicing studios and labs to be found in Bavaria. In addition, Bavaria offers unique landscapes and film locations. Many internationally successful and acclaimed films have been produced in Bavaria and four Oscars for prestigious films have been the latest confirmation of Bavaria’s strong presence and competitiveness in the international film business. The Bavarian government has always put a strong emphasis on a flourishing film and media industry and its commitment to maintaining this industry as an important part of our cultural diversity remains unchanged.

FFF Bayern
In 1996, the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern (FFF Bayern) was founded to offer a fresh and competitive approach to film funding in Bavaria. The State of Bavaria, together with public and private partners, became shareholders in this unique and new structure. The FFF became a reliable partner to the film industry in offering not only a considerable amount of funding subsidies but also comprehensive service and advice. FFF Bayern will be presented by Dr. Klaus Schaefer, Managing Director, and Dr. Michaela Haberlander, Funding Executive.

DFFF
The German Federal Film Fund (DFFF) is in operation since January 1, 2007. Initiated by the federal government, this new funding institution will be supporting the German cinema with annual subsidies of 60 million Euros. Producers based outside of Germany can gain access to the DFFF by cooperating with a German co-producer, and combining this grant with existing regional and federal film fundings. DFFF will be presented by Mrs. Christine Berg, Project Manager.

ARRI
The ARRI Group is the world’s largest manufacturer of motion picture cameras, digital intermediate and lighting equipment. Founded in 1917, ARRI has been a constant innovator, introducing revolutionary technologies. In addition, ARRI provides service to film productions through its postproduction centre in Munich: from film lab, TV, digital intermediate, dubbing, transfer, sound and visual effects to commercials. ARRI will be presented by Mr. Henning Raedlein, Head of Digital Film ARRI.

Bavaria Film
Bavaria Film GmbH is one of the biggest media companies in Europe. Based on its rich tradition as a studio company founded back in 1919, Bavaria Film has steadily grown to become a group of more than 30 subsidiaries and shareholding companies, present in important media locations in the German speaking part of the world. Today, Bavaria Film is a worldwide operating production and service group encompassing all sectors of the audio-visual industry. Bavaria Film will be presented by Dr. Matthias Esche, Managing Director.

A special presentation on ANIMATION and VISUAL EFFECTS in Bavaria will be provided by Mr. Thomas Zauner, from CA Scanline Production and Mr. Michael Coldewey, from Trixter Productions, both studios based in Munich.
